Legacy 2009 Girls Pride Win 2023 U14 State Cup!

Legacy's 2009 Girls Pride team are 2023 MA U14 Girls State Cup Champions!!!!

Proud of Our Team, Proud of Our Coach

Legacy's 2009 Girls Pride team defeated a very talented Surf team in the 2023 U14 MA State Cup finals with PKs after a well-played, competitive regular time and overtime effort.

Our girls have worked incredibly hard over the year coming fresh off of a 2021-22 National Premier League Champions title and trip to the US Club NPL National Championships in Colorado.  The girls then won the USYS National League this past fall and are advancing to the USYS National Championship.  This seasoned set of players have been a consistent force this past year in their pursuit of excellence.

We are also incredibly proud of their Head Coach, and Legacy founder, John Barata.  Long recognized as a leader in youth soccer, John is currently United Soccer Coaches National Youth Coach of the Year. His 2022 Oliver Ames Boys team won their division's State Title last fall with a thrilling come back win in the final.  John was MIAA's Coach of the Year in 2021, the Eastern MA Coach Association 2022 Coach of the Year, and the Boston Globe's 2022 Coach of the Year.  There are not many coaches who currently hold two State Champion titles (and a National Coach of the Year award), though when asked about this, John is quick to speak of his players' hard work and sacrifice  (and their families' support) over the years as a major component of his teams' success.

Our 2009 Girls Pride team next step to returning to Nationals is  the USYS Eastern Regional Championships in Loudon, Virginia later in June.  We wish them the best of luck these last few weeks of league play and look forward to seeing them represent our club.
